How many people work at the fire department?
Monticello has 23 Full time Firefighters and 6 regularly scheduled part time positions. All Full time Firefighters for the City must be Indiana Certified Paramedics. Regularly scheduled part time Firefighters must be a minimum of Indiana certified EMT- B. The Fire Department also has PRN employees who are Firefighters with a minimum of Indiana EMT-B certification. The PRN employees are considered part time employees but are scheduled to work as needed without a permanent shift assignment.
What kind of fire fighting equipment does the MFD have?
MFD Equipment:
- The MFD emergency vehicles includes
- 3 Advanced Life Support (ALS) equipped ambulances
- 2 Front-line Pumpers
- 1 Reserve Pumper
- 1-100 foot aerial Ladder Truck
- 1 Heavy Rescue Truck (also certified as an ALS, Non-Transport Vehicle)
- 1 Tanker
- 1 Brush Truck
- 1 Water Rescue Vehicle
- 2 Rescue Boats (1 rigid hulled and 1 inflatable)
What is the current ISO rating for insurance reporting?
The Insurance Services Organization (ISO) rates city Fire Departments in fire fighting response and success. This rating determines insurance rates in designated fire protection areas. The lower the rating number, the better the insurance rates are. Currently the Monticello Fire Department ISO rating is a 4.
